January 26, 2018 – The Lakeland Magic, Official G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, announced today that Local Tryout Player and Center, Xavier Gibson has been bought out by Osaka Evessa in the Japanese League and will be joining them to finish the season. The Lakeland Magic will retain his rights for two years.
Gibson, the 6-foot-eleven, 230-pound guard, joined the Lakeland Magic as a local tryout player during the 17-18 season. While with the Magic he appeared in 22 games, averaging 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
Prior to the Magic, Gibson played four seasons at Florida State University and was part of the all-time winningest recruiting class in program history where he averaged 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game as a senior in 2012. Gibson also spent four seasons overseas prior to joining the Magic.
